(122 total words in this text) (6330 Reads)
The Virgin Mary's Assumption Church was blessed in 1631 with a participation of Kyiv metropolitan Petro Mohyla. Next to the church, which is the pearl of Ukrainian sacral architecture of the Renaissance, there is Kornyakt's tower. In old times it was the highest building in Lviv. In the XVII-XVIII centuries the Virgin Mary's Dormitior church was a distinguished center of the Christian culture of Ukraine, a sacral place of the Lviv Orthodox Brotherhood.

During the period between two world wars the windows of the church were decorated with stained-glass windows describing the history of Ukrainian church. The author was an emigrant from Naddniprianshchyna, a painter and a statesman of the Ukrainian People's Republic, Petro Kholodnyi.
